This weekend will see on of the one of the largest gatherings of aged America's Cup Class yachts seen since the America's Cup Jubilee last year.

The Sausalito Cup for ACC boats will run on 24-26 May in San Francisco Bay. Five boats are expected and the latest news is that Oracle boss Larry Ellison will be at the helm of USA49, his America's Cup team's training boat.

The format for the event is a single race to be held on Friday night, following a long race around the Bay on Saturday and a two races on Sunday.

"We're pleased that Larry Ellison and his Oracle Racing team members will be participating in the Sausalito Cup as it demonstrates the growing support for IACCSF and big boat racing in the US" said John Sweeney, founder of America's Cup Media LLC and event organiser. "This is the first time an IACC fleet of this size has raced together on San Francisco Bay, and it's significant to have such a high calibre of sailing professionals racing here this weekend".

Other vintage IACC yachts participating in the Sausalito Cup include Italy 1, USA 11, NZL 14, and NZL 20.

Italy 1 is a Frers Design IACC yacht built for the 1992 America's Cup in San Diego and will be helmed by San Francisco venture capitalist, Peter Stoneberg.

Both NZL 14 and NZL 20 are Farr Design sailboats also built for the 1992 America's Cup. NZL 14 will be helmed by professional match-racer Ben Beer. David Thomson, global entrepreneur, will helm NZL 20.

USA 11, formerly owned by Dennis Conner and known as Stars and Stripes is the latest addition to the IACC San Francisco fleet and will be helmed by John Sweeney, who sails on the Oracle Racing team. Stars & Stripes will be christened officially at the Sausalito Yacht Club following Saturday's racing. The five yachts will be anchored at the Sausalito Yacht Club in downtown Sausalito over Memorial Day weekend where the public is welcome to view them.
