All starts for the fifth day of racing at Skandia Life Cowes week will be downwind legs from Squadron marks heading towards the east of the Solent.

For the best viewing points today Class 0, 1, 3 Sigma and X332 are due to round the Colonna Club buoy at approximately 1230 and should be visible from Southsea shore, and then a tight starboard reach to Bembridge Ledge buoy very close to the shore at Bembridge.

The Bowsprit class will again be heading to the Lucas buoy just off of Gillkicker Point, Gosport, and are expected there at approximately 1200. The Dragons, Darings, Etchells and Melges 24 are all expected to round Norris buoy just off of East Cowes shoreline anytime between 1200 and 1300.

Classes 2 and 4 are due to round Marsh buoy off of Lee on Solent at around 1300, while Class 5 ,6 and Contessa 32s will be rounding the Bainbridge Sailcloth buoy off of the same shore line between 1200 and 1300.

Winds are predicted to be south westerly 8-12 knots gradually backing south west 14-18 knots with possible gusts up to 23. The afternoon should see the winds begin to moderate to a lighter 10 -14 knots.

The visibility is good, and generally the weather should be fine at first but with a possible of risk of showers later in the afternoon.
