Final three decided
In the Quarter Finals matches James Spithill defeated 3-0 the finnish Staffan Lindberg while Paolo Cian with the same scoreline eliminated his fellow conutry man Matteo Simmoncelli.
But in the other two quarter Finals it was much closer with Jes Gram-Hansen defeating the remaining Brit Ian Williams but only 3-2, after recovering on a 1-2 score. The fourth match was dramatic won as the two boats crossed the line following a double penalty on Williams. In the last race Gram-Hansen won after Williams was forced to retire due to a spinnaker halyard failure. The same 3-2 score was made by Dutchman Roy Heiner over American Ed Baird.
In the afternoon first semifinal matches, there was a double victory for Spithill over Paolo Cian (both similar matches with very little distance ever between the two boats, while Gram-Hansen and Roy Heiner have won one race each.
Tomorrow the semifinals will finish in the morning and the finals will conclude the event in the afternoon.
