New appointment at Ultimate Sails
Ultimate Sails have appointed Craig Bowie as their Race Division Manager in order to continue to provide a high level of customer service whilst meeting the needs of their growing market.
“2010 was a big year for Ultimate Sails” comments Sales Director Paul Hooker. “We have been working hard since the launch of our own brand name at Southampton Boat Show. Now we are at a point where we need to increase the team.”
Bowie is well known within the sailing fraternity. He began his career in the Marine industry over 12 years ago as sailmaker and loft supervisor of the North Sails service loft where he was responsible for servicing the America’s Cup teams, Superyachts and the Olympic
teams. Craig has spent the last few years furthering his own sailing career taking roles on board high profile racing teams as part of the sail program group. He has been involved with teams such as GBR Challenge, B&Q, Estrella Damm, Artemis, and Alfa Romeo.
His core strengths are in management and communication, starting a project and seeing it through to completion.
“Working for Ultimate Sails, is a great new challenge for me,” explains Bowie. “I have raced on many high profile boats with Kevin Sproul from Ultimate Sails, as well as against him, I am looking forward to representing the Ultimate Sails brand both in the UK and further afield.”
Bowie will be based from their headquarters in Hamble. Part of his role will include coaching and giving talks on race crew management, further information about this will be released soon.
Ultimate Sails has evolved from the successful Sobstad sailmaking business which was owned by Kevin Sproul and managed by Paul Hooker before being sold to Elvstrom Sailmakers. All Ultimate Sails are designed and engineered in-house for specific customer sailing requirements, without any of the restrictions or limitations often found with existing brands of sail.
