Hall Spars have announce Tom Derecktor as new Chief Operating Officer of the company's US operations. In this newly created position, Derecktor will be responsible for overall operations of the factory based in Bristol, Rhode Island. Hall has additional locations in New Zealand, Italy, and The Netherlands.

"Tom is very enthusiastic and energetic, and comes to Hall with a full set of tools," says Eric Hall, President of Hall Spars. "He grew up working in his father’s shipyards and knows one-off, custom manufacturing as well as high-volume manufacturing. He is an entrepreneur who created, built, and ultimately sold the TracRac Company, which is a nationally known brand and a Tier 1 supplier of cargo carrying systems to GM in North America. He has experience with a range of major projects, from large wind turbine blades to megayachts, having recently built the 85m Cakewalk at Derecktor Shipyard in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Tom is a huge fan of the Hall products and sees big opportunities for Hall going forward.

"Ben Hall, Phil Garland [Hall vice presidents], and I all have a strong connection to Tom as our families have done a lot together commercially and recreationally," says Hall. "Phil worked for Tom’s father before coming to help me create our company in 1980."

"I am very impressed by the intelligence, dedication, and teamwork of everyone at Hall," says Derecktor. "Coming in as COO is an incredible opportunity to combine my interest in business, sailing, and composites in a dynamic, high-tech atmosphere. I look forward to leading the company toward continued growth in the U.S. and worldwide."

Derecktor previously served as president of the family-owned Derecktor Shipyard in Bridgeport, CT, which delivered the 2011 World Superyacht Award-nominated motoryacht Cakewalk. Derecktor was the founder/inventor behind the TracRac cargo management system for pick-up trucks, for which he holds seven patents. He is also on the board of directors of BluSource Energy (wind energy) and holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering with composite design specialization from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
