Dubarry continue with Women's Open Keelboat Champs
The 2013 Dubarry Women's Open Keelboat Championship, a weekend of yacht racing for all female crews, will be taking place over the weekend of 7-8 September. For the second year in a row the event will be hosted by Hamble River Sailing Club and Dubarry of Ireland are once again on board as title sponsors. Dubarry has been a race sponsor since the event began in 2008, and became title sponsor in 2011.
“Dubarry is delighted to continue our association with this great event," commented Michael Walsh, Marketing Director at Dubarry. "There is a very special atmosphere and spirit about the weekend and it embraces many of the values that we, as a brand, see as being core to mutually beneficial sponsorship arrangements. We wish everyone competing and spectating a thoroughly enjoyable weekend."
As title sponsor, Dubarry of Ireland will present first, second and third placed teams in each class with generous prizes as well as presenting the overall Championship prizes including the WOKC Trophy. In addition Dubarry hosts a bubbly reception for competitors and their supporters on Saturday 7th before the annual Frocks and Flipflops party.
Hamble River Sailing Club is hosting the Championship for the second year running, following a successful event in 2012. The club has a history of organising excellent competitive racing in a friendly atmosphere.
“We are absolutely thrilled that the Dubarry Women’s Open Keelboat Championship is coming back to HRSC for another year," said HRSC Commodore, Trevor Pountain. "It was a fabulous event last year both on and off the water."
Ellie Draper, one of the team of organisers for the Dubarry Women’s Open Keelboat Championship commented: “We are delighted that Dubarry will again be our title sponsor. Having such a strong brand supporting the event helps us to expand the reach of the event. To be working with HRSC again is fantastic and their team supported us so well last year. We look forward to building our relationships with both of these organisations and to putting on a top regatta and party for our sailors and their support teams."
The event is both a competitive regatta, and a supportive environment for racers of all abilities.
The Frocks & Flipflops party will be hosted at HRSC on Saturday 7th in aid of Breast Cancer Care and the Hamble Lifeboat.
Racing will take place in two fleets, one design J/80s and an IRC fleet with a guideline rating of 0.900-1.090.
Many boats are kindly loaned by owners to the female crews and those interested in taking part or willing to lend their boats should get in touch with the organising team via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or HRSC at email@example.com.
