The Melges 32 Audi tron Sailing Series held its first regatta in Naples this weekend

Sunday April 13th 2014, Author: James Boyd, Location: Italy

A total of six races were sailed at the first event of the Audi tron Sailing Series Melges 32 organised by B.Plan Sport&Events and Melges Europe.

Today the total lack of wind on the Bay of Naples did not allow the two remaining races to be held, obliging the Race Comittee President, Costanzo Villa to call the regatta to a close.

Last night results of a protest changed some podium positions.

Spirit of Nerina of Andrea Ferrari and Andrea Cantamesse with tactician Roberto Spata, winner of two races, ended up first ahead of Torpyone (Lupi/Pessina-Bressani) followed by Azimut by Stig (Rombelli-Stig).

Among other winners were Synergy (Zavadnikov-Michele Ivaldi) which finished fourth place, five points behind third place and winner of the first race while Malafemmena (Di Lorenzo-Matteo Ivaldi), came home.

Now that the Naples regatta run by the Circolo Remo e Vela Italia is over, the Audi tron Sailing Series will resume in Porto Ercole, where the Audi Melges 20 will be racing over 10-11 May followed by the Melges 32 on 16-18 May.
