But there is a path ahead for Joyon as he negotiates his way up the South Atlantic
For the first time during this round the world voyage Francis Joyon has experienced a reprieve from relentless winds of 20+ knots. At one point on Saturday morning IDEC2's four hourly average dropped to just 3.8 knots while up until Sunday morning her 24 hour average was less than 10 knots for the first time in more than a month of sailing.

While our last update saw IDEC2 lining up to pass through the Strait of LeMaire, Joyon soon after bore away to keep Staten Island to port. Over the course of Sunday Joyon also chose to leave the Falkland Islands to port, taking a course even further east to the one he took previously on board IDEC 1.  ...more
