Effortless pace for Groupama 3 in the South Atlantic trades
Now fully into the South Atlantic trades Groupama 3 is fully up to G-Class speed and throughout the course of today has been averaging 27-30 knots...impressive given that the wind strength is in the order of 15-20 knots from the ENE... As a result her advantage over Orange 2 has over the course of today increased from 462 miles, at 1000 this morning, to 572 miles in just nine hours!

Contrary to what we predicted this morning, Groupama 3 has headed further west than anticipated, although this is presumably to maintain the optimum wind angle. As the wind backs further to the northeast she may take the opportunity to head east again taking the shift. ...more
