| After yesterday's joy of the first two boats in the Vendee Globe safely making it past Cape Horn and back into the Atlantic, so this morning all eyes are glued on third placed Jean le Cam, who is in trouble some 200 miles west of the Cape Horn. He was on the phone to race HQ when suddenly the line went dead and soon after his EPIRB triggered. Lack of comms, but a signal from his emergency beacon, suggests that his VM Materiaux may have capsized. Now dawn has broken we can expect one of the MRCC Punta Arena's spotter planes to be at the scene shortly.
Meanwhile Michel Desjoyeaux on Foncia and second placed Roland Jourdain on Veolia Environnement are steaming north towards warmer climes. ...more |
