Fight for third

Can Emma Richards get her Pindar past Patrick de Radigues to pull off a podium place?

An intense race is taking place for third place on leg one of Around Alone.

At 1735hrs GMT this evening, Emma Richards was continuing her charge for the finish line by overtaking Italian Simone Bianchetti on board Tiscali. Earlier on today she overtook Graham Dalton on Hexagon and she is now threatening Belgian Patrick de Radigues on Garnier. While Garnier will be forced to tack south again before coming into the finish, Emma's more southerly position may make it unecessary for her to tack - this could be the pay off and gain her third place…

Aside from this Emma is also soon to set a new female solo monohull West to East transatlantic record as she passes the Lizard Point tonight.

Watch the finishes in Torbay

The finish line for the yachts is off the Berry Head Hotel in Brixham. The boats are crossing the line and then towed into the pontoons at the Brixham Yacht Club. From there the skipper will be escorted to the public platform in the Race Village at the Brixham Yacht Club to hold interviews and be welcomed by the Torbay community.
