In the joint partnership between Gurra Krantz’ Global Team and RS Components, Krantz has entered teamRS in the Volvo Baltic Race which begins on Saturday June 21st.

RS, which raced in the Volvo Ocean Race as SEB, will have Erle Williams in charge, with Krantz joining the team for the second part of the regatta.

Being a late entry, the team's focus is still to create a highly competitive platform and the international crew of nine, includes Mike Quilter looking after the navigation, and a host of established professional sailors from New Zealand, Australia and Sweden, who have taken part in the Volvo Ocean Race and America’s Cup.

"We know we’re a late entry and it’s going to be tough to come up to the same level as the people who’ve been preparing for a few months. We have a lot of catching up to do, but we’re confident we can put up a decent fight and give the others a good race" says Krantz, who’s added a few new spinnakers to the slim sail inventory allocated in line the new rules for the Volvo Ocean Race.

For RS Components this venture into sailing is a new challenge and an expression of the company philosophy. "The RS Team spirit and culture is unique and results in high performance and good results in our business. We see it as a differentiating competitive factor. In a tough sailing environment team spirit can be the factor that makes the difference," says Peter Hattingh, Marketing and Product Marketing Manager of RS Components Germany. "This aspect is the reason for our participation with teamRS in the Volvo Baltic Race. Our intention is to communicate this to our large customer base and demonstrate the unique RS spirit with teamRS."

"We are excited about this co-operation, as it is far more than just a sporting event for both parties" adds Gurra Krantz.
