The amazing spectacle

Conrad Humphreys and thedailysail editor James Boyd tour the monohulls pre-start at the Route du Rhum
The build-up in St Malo to the fourly yearly Route du Rhum is one of the epic moments within our sport. In this video - as near as you will get to being there in the flesh - Vendee Globe skipper Conrad Humphreys and thedailysail's editor James Boyd wander the monohull docks discussing the entries, from the legion of Class 40s to the three new Open 60s. As an Open 60 user Conrad provides some interesting perspective about what he looks at in these amazing boats. This video is around 45 minutes long, so settle down with a cup of tea or a large gin tonight and enjoy. Conrad is currently looking for a new Open 60 sponsor and can be contacted through his website here. Click here to watch the video . NB: This video is formatted to play out as it downloads in Windows Media Player and is around 160MB in size - therefore only suitable for those with broadband connections. Mac users can now view WMV files by downloading a suitable add on to Quicktime - we for example use Flip4Mac which works a treat. The only noticable difference is that while the clip will play out while downloading on a PC, on a Mac it must download first.
