Once again in the battle with IDEC over the last 48 hours, Thomas Coville has failed to make any further inroads into the singlehanded non-stop round the world record-setter's pace, still just over 1200 miles astern. It is not that Sodebo is going slowly, regularly averaging 21-23 knots, only IDEC was going just as quickly at this point.

At present Sodebo is south of the Tasman Sea, some 400 miles due west of the Auckland Islands (to the south of NZ's South Island) and north of IDEC's track. According to the GRIB files she should be near ideal conditions, to the northeast of a depression and ahead of the front, sailing in 25-30 knot northwesterlies.

The forecast for the next 48 hours indicates that the front is likely to catch up with Sodebo in 24 hours time, the wind increasing to 30+ knots and veering into the north, before the depression, the front is associated with drops south on Monday, taking the front with it and the wind backs into the west again.
