Campagne de France extend their sponsorship

Good news for Halvard Mabire and Miranda Merron's Class40 campaign

Halvard Mabire and his British co-skipper Miranda Merron have extended their partnership with Campagne de France for a further two years.

Campagne de France is the flagship brand of France Frais, part of the Maîtres Laitiers du Cotentin dairy cooperative based in Sottevast, Normandy. Campagne de France first backed the Anglo-French duo in 2011 and played an integral part in their successful 2012 season, with victory in the Quebec – St Malo transatlantic race, and a fine second place finish in the Normandy Channel Race.

Mabire and  Merron will compete in all the key races on the Class40 circuit through to the end of 2014, including the singlehanded Route du Rhum in 2014. 

“I am of course delighted that the adventure we embarked on with Campagne de France is to carry on,” says Mabire. “For the first time in my 35-year career, I have a loyal sponsor and a two-year programme.”

Halvard Mabire and Miranda Merron now have the means to properly prepare their Class40 and compete in the major races in the calendar, beginning with the Normandy Channel Race in the spring, and the Transat Jacques Vabre which starts from Le Havre in the autumn of 2013.

“Our sailing campaign is based on a solid relationship with our sponsors and a solid corporate communication project” Mabire continues. “What has really touched us, Miranda and I, with this adventure is sailing under the colours of a company with such strong ties to the land, and which recognises the values of endeavour, hard work, tenacity and innovation which apply to sea-based professions as its own.”

Halvard, a native sailor from Normandy, will continue to proudly fly the flag of this company specialising in fresh products and firmly anchored on the lands and in the dairy industry of Normandy.

“It’s true that we recognise ourselves in Halvard”, says Jean-François Fortin, Managing Director of Maîtres Laitiers du Cotentin. “We appreciate his honest and straightforward approach to sailing. We don’t know much about the sea, but the “land-sea” association appeals to us, and we find that we share many values.”

At the end of a long race campaign which took them around the world, from Mallorca to New Zealand in the Global Ocean Race, the USA and Quebec, covering some 25,000 miles, Miranda Merron and Halvard Mabire are preparing their boat for a well-earned winter rest.

Campagne de France, a Pogo 40 2S, was launched in 2011 and has impressed in all the races in which she has competed. However, the 2013 season is not far away and the Anglo-Norman team have already started working on the boat and the logistics for the upcoming season. Campagne de France will fully support Halvard and Miranda with their race programme, with the aim of raising brand awareness, and running an internal communications campaign through the adventures of ocean racing.
