Concise 8 retires from Transat Jacques Vabre

British Class40 suffers rudder damage

British crew Ned Collier Wakefield and Sam Goodchild have been forced to pull into Muros in northwest Spain on their Class40 Concise 8 this morning, after their boat suffered damage to the blade of its port rudder last night and was followed by damage to other essential fittings.

The incident happened yesterday evening between 2100 and 2200 UTC while racing in 25-26 knots of northeasterly winds andrough seas when they were approximately 45 miles NW of Cape Finisterre.

As a result Concise 8 has retired from the 2013 Transat Jacques Vabre.
