After a busy and intense year 2013, Figaro sailors are already looking forward to their schedule for the 2014 Figaro Bénéteau season.

First up is the Transat AG2R La Mondiale doublehanded race. This will be followed by the three major events of the French Solo Offshore Sailing Championship including a new grand finale. With six promotional races to complete the calendar, the season looks very promising for one of the famous solo offshore racing circuit.

For the Transat AG2R La Mondiale, starting on 6 April from Concarneau heading for St Barths, 20 doublehanded crews are expected to be competing in this, the 12th edition of the race.

Following this are the Le Havre Allmer Cup (end of May), La Solitaire du Figaro Eric Bompard cachemire (June 2014) and finally, a new event, the Championship Finale (August-September 2014).

Didier Bouillard, the Class Figaro Beneteau President comments: “To close our Championship, there's nothing better than an unprecedented offshore race for the Figaro Beneteau 2s. We are working on a round trip from the French Atlantic coast to Horta. It will be fascinating on the water. The aim of our one-design Class has always been to present the highest-level circuit possible and avoid an escalating in equipment costs. There will be a familar city hosting the start.”

While discussions are taking place between several cities and clubs, the Class Figaro Beneteau remains open to propositions before announcing the final dates and course, due to take place at Salon Nautique in Paris.

Further promotional and preparatory races are to be held during the 2014 season including the Icom Cup, the Solo Maître Coq, the Solo Concarneau, the Spi Ouest France Intermarché fully crewed, the Transmanche and finally the Solo Basse Normandie.
