Aussies to gun for Audi A5 this August

Audi Hamilton Island Race Week 2010 main prize gets even bigger

Audi, major sponsors of Audi Hamilton Island Race Week 2010, will this year provide the richest prize in Australian sailing – and all competing teams will be eligible to win.

One skilled and speedy crew sailing in what will be the 27th edition of Audi Hamilton Island Race Week will drive home in an Audi A5 2.0 TFSI Sportback, valued at more than $80,000 on the road.

The A5 will be awarded to one of the division winners at Race Week – from Non-Spinnaker Cruising through to IRC Grand Prix Racing. The ‘leveller’ to decide the actual recipient will be the Audi ‘Final Challenge’, which will be staged on Hamilton Island’s airport on the Lay Day, Tuesday 24 August 2010.

It’s a contest within a contest. To be eligible, at least two crew from each division-winning yacht must have participated in the Audi Final Challenge – a test of cunning and consistency - and if they deliver the best result in this unique driving event then the yacht owner will take home the Audi A5 Sportback. This year’s Audi Final Challenge will be contested in the company’s just-released S5 Sportback model which arrived Downunder in late June 2010.

As ever, Audi will showcase the very latest metal on the island for Audi Hamilton Island Race Week, including the company’s brand new Audi A8 luxury limousine which will make its national debut at Australia’s premiere sailing regatta.

Audi recently extended its sponsorship of Hamilton Island Race Week for another three years. The regatta, scheduled for August 20 to 28, is Australia’s largest and most awarded keelboat regatta.
