The forecast rain held off and a consistent 8-12 knot southerly breeze prevailed during the four hours it took to complete racing today.
The points for the six races are added to the overall placing from the Qualification Races that were held on Thursday and Friday. The total points on the day have the Danish team of Hestbek/Andersen still leading, although their lead was cut to only 1 point in the second last race after a capsize when Dennis Andersen fell out of the boat in a gybe.
Second place is being held by Piero and Gianfranco Sibello, Italyís 49er representatives for the Olympic Games in Athens 2004. Their results were mixed today although they are still 3 points ahead of the Japanese crew of Kenji Nakamura and Masato Takaki.
Australians Mark Turnbull and Nick Partridge are starting to put a consistent series together, fighting hard to stay in front of Marc Audineau and Stephane Christidis of France. Audineau was OCS in one of the earlier races, so will be looking for another drop after 10 races have been completed.
First prize takes home 2,500 Euros, second prize is 1,250 Euros, third prize is 625 Euros and there is a bonus for the crew with the most points (calculated on total prize money over the whole Grand Prix) when the series moves to Taiwan in September.
