Worrell 1000 stage 4
The entire eighteen cat fleet shattered the record time for the Cocoa to Daytona leg of the race, with the first team crossing the line over an hour earlier than the best time in the past 19 regattas. The stage win was particularly sweet for Athletes in Action crew Matt Struble as it is his final leg of the race.
Race leaders Stephen Lohmayer and Kenneth Pierce on Tybee Island finished the stage in fifth place, nine minutes and 41 seconds astern of the leg winners but were only 18 seconds behind Alexander’s on the Bay and so hold a one minute and 40 second advantage in the cumulative times from all four stages.
Today the fleet are sailing the final Florida stage from Daytona to Jacksonville Beach.
