Following ISAF’s choice of sailing events for the 2016 Olympics, including a women’s skiff, RS Sailing and the RYA are working closely together and are pleased to announce that the RS800 has been selected for the new RYA Girls4Gold program.

Aimed at getting teams of girls revved up about sailing skiffs prior to the Olympic equipment selection in November 2012, Girls4Gold will be using the RS800 for training and racing, and has already held one successful training weekend at Hayling Island to begin momentum for RS800 sailing and the program.

Key dates for all aspiring girl Olympic skiff sailors for further RYA Girls4Gold RS800 training weekends are:

18-19 June at WPNSA
16-17 July at Hayling Island
6-7 August – Venue TBC
10-11 September – Venue TBC
8-9 October – Venue TBC

With a thriving racing scene established, the RS800 fleet is the perfect place for girl teams to hone their skills. RS Sailing, the RS800 Class Association and the RYA are calling all girls to get into an RS800 and race in the brand new Women’s Super-Series. Taking place as part of pre-organised RS800 race events, all female RS800 teams will be competing for the Women’s Super Series title, as well as the overall
event win.

The following events will see the Women’s Super Series in action:
(Best 3 out of 4 events)
25 – 26 June at Hayling Island
2 – 3 July at Lymington
23 – 24 July at Eastbourne
17 – 18 September at Stokes Bay
