Iain Murray has completed a management buy-out of Australian yacht builder Bashford International. Along with his business partners, David Kellett and Darren Williams, the 18-Foot Skiff and America’s Cup sailor now owns the company that was founded by Ian Bashford.
Whilst the Sydney 40 has failed to grab the hearts of racing yachtsmen, despite its Admiral’s Cup status, the Sydney 38 is proving to be one of the most successful production yachts built in Australia - with 31 having been contracted in the past ten months. Orders are being completed at the rate of one every three weeks and the company is forecasting number 45 will be delivered by the end of the year.
