Star-studded cast to race 12-metres in America's Cup jubilee regatta

Eddie Warden-Owen reckons everyone who is anyone will be racing in the old 'dinosaurs' next summer

Eddie Warden-Owen is planning to compete in the America’s Cup 150th Anniversary Regatta aboard Tom Blackaller’s 12 Metre USA 61, recently purchased by multi-millionaire businessman, Irvine Laidlaw. 'It is an interesting project, because the 12 Metre we are sailing has a canard [bow rudder]. The 12 Metres are going to make a magnificent sight next year. They might be dinosaurs by today’s standards, but they are incredibly challenging to sail - very tactical and physically hard work.
'I think you will see all the old faces come over from America for this one, including Dennis Conner. Everyone who has been associated with the America’s Cup will be there,' he predicted. Owen will also be sailing with Laidlaw at Key West Race Week, at the beginning of 2001.
