Commodore's Cup selection trials
Owners or a representative (not more than two people per boat) are invited to attend the meeting where the RYA Selectors will discuss with them the conditions and schedule for the RYA Selection Trials for the Rolex Commodore's Cup 2002. The aim of the trials will be to select two English teams, with three boats sailing per team.
RORC's Rolex Commodore's Cup will will be held off Cowes this year from the 11-18 August with the support of the Island Sailing Club, the Royal Yacht Squadron and the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club.
Boats/Teams will be eligible if they have;
- a valid IRC (endorsed) certificate 2002 with a TCC between 1.000-1.325
- each team may have only one boat with a TCC between 1.200-1.325
- SSS (Stability and Safety Screening) Numeral of 20 or more
- DLR (Displacement Length Ratio) not exceeding 200-as printed on each boats IRC (Endorsed) certificate
Each crew will be required to have 50% (rounded down) amateur crew under the ISAF Competitor Classification Code. A person of amateur status (Group 1) will be required to helm throughout the inshore races and at the start of the offshore races.
The selectors for the RYA Selection Trials for the Rolex Commodore's Cup 2002 will be Iain Macdonald-Smith (Chairman) - member of the RYA Racing Keelboat Committee, who has competed in ten Admiral's Cups, Dave Atkinson, Rear Commodore of the Island Sailing Club and John Derbyshire, the RYA's Racing Manager and the GBR Olympic Team Manager for Sydney 2000. One additional selector is still to be announced.
