Baltic Yachts regatta
"This is the first time in the Finnish company's 29-year history that the regatta will take place in Newport," said Christer Still, president of Baltic Yachts USA. "With the relocation of the U.S. office from Marblehead, Mass. to Newport in 2000, hosting the regatta in one of the world's yachting capitals became a priority. We are delighted to bring this high-profile event to Newport and we've received a very positive response from Baltic owners, who are all eager to sail on the world-famous Narragansett Bay."
To date, 14 of Baltic yachts have entered this year's edition of the Baltic Yachts Regatta, with additional entries arriving daily from across the U.S. and Europe.
Founded in 1973, Baltic Yachts is based in Finland, where ship and yacht building traditions date back to the early 13th century. Today the company employs 130 highly skilled people in ultra-modern facilities. The U.S. office for Baltic Yachts is located in Newport and offers brokerage and custom design services.
