Rocking up in Garda
The event promises to be interesting and great to watch as big winds are expected. Garda is known as one of the best sailing spots in the world, with a normally consistent and strong thermal blowing every sunny day.
The top three contenders of the RC 44 Championship Tour will attend the event. Merely separated by five points, Team Aqua (18), Cro-A-Sail (15) and Team Omega (14) will fight hard to gain precious points before the last three events of the season (Portofino, Trieste, UAE).
Cro-A-sail will benefit from America's Cup sailor Jesper Radich's experience, whilst Russell Coutts' Team Omega will be helmed by Gianni Testa, the President of Fraglia Vela di Malcesine during the fleet races.
Against these three favourites, Magia - Carbon Affairs with Nicholas Verwilghen at the helm, and Ekipa 44 - renamed Team Antigua - who will be led by Carlo Falcone, an Italian citizen established in the Caribbean.
The event will start on Wednesday, with fleet races. A match racing round-robin is scheduled on Thursday whilst the teams will complete a lake race on Saturday, with a huge downwind blast on the program. The event will finish on Sunday with more fleet races.
