Race management team for this weekend's opening round of the Raymarine Warsash Spring Series hold a dress rehersal

Tuesday March 6th 2007, Author: Flavia Bateson, Location: United Kingdom
Strong winds and horizontal rain did not deter the 40-strong race management team for the Raymarine Warsash Spring Series when a full rehearsal was held on 4 March 2007. All systems afloat and ashore were checked, ready for the big day. Only the competitors were missing! The six week series itself gets underway from Sunday 11 March with additional Saturdays for the sportsboat Spring Championships and Big Boat Weekends.

Black Group will include IRC divisions as well as separate classes for J/109s and J/105s. As the Solent continues to become a busier place for radio traffic, competitors need to remember that courses and other information for Black Group will this year be broadcast on VHF channel 28. White Group will comprise Laser SB3s, 1720s, Hunter 707s, J80s plus a mixed Sportsboat class. Although this spring has been very mild, water in the Solent is at its coldest for the year. As a sensible safety precaution, the Race Committee has now made the wearing of personal buoyancy mandatory for White Group competitors and it must be visible all the time whilst racing.

Once racing is over, everyone is welcome at Warsash Sailing Club on the River Hamble, where there is a friendly bar, hot food and fast on-screen results as well as champagne for the weekly class winners present in the clubhouse.

Last minute entries are welcome and these can be made on-line via .
