Elixir into the lead
It was Sean McLean's Scottish team that opened the batting with a solid race 1 win, while behind them there was more place changing in the 10 knots breeze under blue skies. Royal Lymington Team Wadhams climbed to second at the end of the first lap, but got caught by a big right shift and defending champs the Browns from Burnham took second followed by fancied local boat Sea Breezes sailed by Simon Brien with an Olympian on board.
After another big shift neccessitating swift relaying of the course race two followed in similar pressure. This time a left hander gave the advantage to bots on that side of the first beat with another local boat, Sea Breezes sailed by Bian Shaw storming through to win with Brien second and the Brown's a consistent third.
So at this stage the top of the board looks like this:
1st Elixir Shaun McLean
2nd Sea Breezes Simon Brien
3rd Aeolus Jono Brown
4th Momentary Laps John Patterson
5th Swallow Brien Shaw
6th RSsailing.com Martin Wadhams
Similar conditions are forecast for day two and already it looks as though a consistent if not race winning scoresheet is the aim.
