First of the ACC boats to pass us was our very own GBR Challenge who had a clear lead on Prada's Luna Rossa who lost in the finals to the Kiwis in the last America's Cup. Close along side them was Black Magic, Team New Zealand's 1995 winner. Above us was the largest spinnaker I have ever seen on Charles Butt's 42m Rebecca (next page) helmed by Lawrie Smith. Then the Volvo 60 illbruck came through underneath us with her fancy green bow not racing but on sea trials for the Volvo Ocean Race.
