The America's Cup Jubilee regatta has inspired such interest within the yachting community that several people have bought former America's Cup yachts specifically to take part. One such person is Don Wood, owner of the 12 metre Italia. Don started his company Source International in 1979 with his wife Jill. This company offers marketing and promotional services to blue chip and high street companies alike. Based in Hurn Airport near Bournemouth, Source now does business globally. Although Don was in the Army in 1969 he started flying when the RAF paid for him to achieve a special award with aircraft and went to Sandhurst officer's college. However Don found he wasn't suited to the Sandhurst lifestyle, so left to become a 'beach photographer', a step which led him to doing boat deliveries. As a result of this his interest in sailing became his passion. Despite his departure from the RAF, Don still held another interest in flying and the success of his business has allowed him to indulge in this as a most serious hobby - collecting classic jet aircraft. Apart from the private jet that he mainly uses for business travel he also is the proud owner of at least seven Venoms and Vampires dating back to just after World War two, many of which he bought off the Swiss Air Force. These magnificent machines now form the largest non-government funded jet display team in the world. Continued on page two....12345next ›last »
