The British Dragon Association has won sponsorship from Aberdeen Asset Management for a unique two-year promotional programme to win a brand new Dragon, to be named Jubilee. The prize-winner will be drawn at a Ball to mark the 75th Anniversary of the Class to be held during the 2004 London International Boat Show.

Tickets to take part in the prize draw, which will be called Dragon Jubilee, will be awarded, free of charge, to all Dragon sailors who have competed in the Class regional and national championships in Britain and Ireland during 2002 and 2003 and/or competed at nominated events at their local club.

"Dragon Jubilee is the first time that a project of this nature has taken place in the UK. It will provide us with a unique opportunity to increase the Class' profile across the UK and Ireland and, we hope, introduce potential new recruits," commented Rob Campbell, BDA Chairman.

Aberdeen Asset Management's two year sponsorship will provide the financial services company with a range of Corporate Hospitality opportunities at Dragon events through the UK and Ireland.

Douglas Connon, head of sponsorship at Aberdeen Asset Management, said: "Backing the British Dragon Association's promotional programme follows on from our successful sponsorship of the Oxford & Cambridge University Boat Race. It represents our determination to become one of the leading players in the investment management arena, with a clearly recognisable brand. Linking up with the BDA represents an important step in our brand development."

"We will enjoy the affinity with the values of the Association: a competitive spirit, character, determination and commitment to performance. We are delighted to be involved."

Dragon Jubilee is also generously supported by Borresen of Denmark who are building the £35,000 boat, and by Holt Allen who are supplying all the spars and fittings.
