Quantum and Parker & Kay split
Quantum Sail Design Group have issued a statement to the effect that they will no longer be affiliated with the UK sail lofts owned by John Parker and Peter Kay. Located at Suffolk Yacht Harbour on the east coast and near Hamble Point Marina on the Solent, these sail lofts will continue as independently owned and operated sail lofts under the name Parker & Kay Sailmakers.
Ed Reynolds, President of Quantum Sail Design Group says: “As Founding Partners in Quantum Europe, Parker and Kay played a role in the formation of QSDG and we appreciate their contributions; we wish John and Peter well as they continue to support the sailing community with their own products.”
Reynolds says the parting was mutually agreed upon recognising that QSDG seeks to grow its presence in the UK on a larger scale, serving the country’s cruising and racing sailors with its full range of product offerings.
Quantum Sail Design Group was formed in 1996 by a group of independent and experienced sail makers. The firm has grown to more than 60 sales and service outlets throughout the world with corporate headquarters in Traverse City, Michigan, USA and European headquarters in Barcelona, Spain. Quantum has sail making facilities in Barcelona, Malaysia, South Africa and Traverse City, Michigan.
