Double whammy for Sill

Reshuffle in the FICO-LaCoste World Championship rankings

After the first two multihull events in the FICO-LACOSTE race calendar, the ORMA Grand Prix de Lorient and the Course des Phares, the Championship's role - to favour the versatility of competitors and to create as equal a balance as possible between the multihull and monohull classes - has been confirmed.

The first three in the rankings - Jourdain, Mac Arthur and Desjoyeaux - remain the same, albeit in a different order, with Sill skipper Roland 'Bilou' Jourdain rising to first place following his blistering win in the recent Regate de Rubicon.

In the multihull class Loïck Peyron has made a spectacular comeback following his superb victory in the Course des Phares.

Peyron was FICO-LACOSTE World Champion in 1998 and 1999 but has taken part in few events with much success in the last two years, having been busy with the construction of his new trimaran Fujifilm. After the Grand Prix de Lorient on 28 April where he finished second and his victory in the Course de Phares on 3 June, Peyron has moved up to seventh place in the championship rankings.

Frank Cammas confirmed his fifth place in the Championships rankings by virtue of his victory on Groupama in the Grand Prix de Lorient, despite his disappointing retirement from the Course des Phares. Jean Le Cam's second place in the Course des Phares on Bonduelle lifts him up to ninth in the World Championship for skippers.

Meanwhile in the World Championship for Crew Members: the lead is narrowing. Loïck Le Mignon (63.75 points) has moved into second place in the Championship. He owes his leap of 12 places to his role as crew member aboard Fujifilm in the Course des Phares. He was already well placed after finishing third on Fujifilm in the Transat Jacques Vabre.

He is now right on the heals of Gaël Le Cleac'h (65 points), current leader in the World Championship for Crew Members, who won the Transat Jacques Vabre alongside Roland Jourdain on Sill Plein Fruit in November 2001 and the Regata Rubicon in May 2002.
