JOG 60th anniversary regatta

Week long celebrations in Falmouth

Junior Offshore Group (JOG) 60th Anniversary Falmouth Regatta saw NJOS, J2Eau and Moondog triumph in a week dominated by light breeze racing.

JOG celebrated 60 years of racing with a seven race regatta in Cornwall last week for a fleet of boats across Classes 3, 4 & 5.

Taking the form of a combination of round the cans races and a passage race to Fowey and back to Falmouth the following day, the regatta saw yachts compete for individual race wins (per class), with each race result contributing to a points total across the series.

With light and unpredictable breezes every day, there were moments when there was a wind lottery playing as big a part as sail trim in race results, with the fleet seeing a range of winners in each class every day. As with all JOG races, there was a strong social gathering at the end of every day of racing for chewing over the events of the day and a good time had by all. JOG are very grateful to the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club & the Royal Fowey Yacht Club for their fantastic hospitality.

Overall winners by class for the regatta were:
Class 3: NJOS (Corby 35) owned and raced by Tim & Nicky Octon
Class 4: J2Eau (J/109) owned and raced by Steve & Jody Maine
Class 5: Moondog (Laser 28) owned and raced by Peter & Andy Pickett
